This year’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) brought some exciting news for Apple fans, including the release of new Macs. Alongside Apple’s new mixed reality headset and operating system updates, the tech giant unveiled the latest versions of the MacBook Air, Mac Pro, and Mac Studio, all equipped with Apple silicon. 15-INCH MACBOOK AIR
Starting at $1,299, the newly released MacBook Air is already making waves as « the world’s thinnest 15-inch laptop. » Preorders are available starting today, June 8th, and it will be officially released on June 13th. The MacBook Air features a 15.3-inch screen with 500 nits of brightness and a 1080p webcam. Equipped with Apple’s base M2 chip, it has an eight-core CPU, 10-core GPU, 8GB RAM, and 256GB of storage. However, for an extra $200, you can upgrade to 512GB of storage, or opt for the 1TB or 2TB versions, both of which come with higher price tags. You can also choose to increase your memory to 16GB or 24GB for an additional cost of $200-$400. The MacBook Air comes in four colors: dark blue, starlight, space gray, or silver.
If you prefer a smaller option, the 13-inch M2 Air is still available and now starts at $1,099, $100 less than its previous price. The M1 MacBook Air from 2020 is also still for sale at $999, though it’s on sale at Amazon and Best Buy for $799.99 at the moment.
For power users, the Mac Studio is Apple’s most powerful desktop Mac yet. It features Apple’s M2 Max and new M2 Ultra processor, and Apple promises that it will be three times faster than its predecessor, depending on the configuration you buy. With the same design as the M1 model from last year, the Mac Studio won’t be available until June 13th, but you can already preorder it. It starts at $1,999 and comes with an M2 Max chip, a 12-core CPU, a 30-core GPU, 32GB of RAM, and 512GB of storage. Alternatively, you can opt for the more powerful M2 Ultra chip, a 24-core CPU, a 60-core GPU, 128GB of RAM, and 1TB of storage, starting at $3,999. This model also supports up to six Pro Display XDRs, as well as Wi-Fi 6E connectivity and Bluetooth 5.3 support.
Like the Mac Studio, the new Mac Pro comes with Apple’s new M2 Ultra processor and boasts the same design as the previous model. It can support up to 192GB of unified memory and is significantly faster than its Intel-equipped predecessor. With eight Thunderbolt ports, six PCI expansion slots, and two HDMI ports that support up to 8K resolution and up to 240Hz frame rates, the new Mac Pro starts at $6,999 for the model with a 24-core CPU, 60-core GPU, 64GB RAM, and 1TB SSD. Preorders are available starting today, June 8th, and it will be officially released on June 13th.
