NOTRE CRITIQUE

  1. I can’t be the only one who is covered in goosebumps and eyes welling with tears.. this visual with the powerful lyrics. My God, just thinking of my mother, my grandmother, my sister.

I hope this stands to move women to understand one another, especially in terms of WOC. We’re not free until all of us are free. 💪❤️

  2. FINALLY a woman that can sing! These days all you hear is songs that talk about women romanticizing borderline abusive and toxic relationships.. This song still has a catchy beat and music and lyrics and isn’t a stereotypical ’hE bEaTS mE bUT i StIlL lOve HiM’ song with an annoying voice and ’baby’ after every verse. FINALLY a good song.

  3. Why are you hanging on
    So tight
To the rope that I'm hanging from
    Off this island?
This was an escape plan (this was an escape plan)
Carefully timed it so that we'd go
And dive into the waves below
    Who tends the orchards?
    Who fixes up the gables?
    Emotional torture
From the head of your high table
    Who fetches the water
    From the rocky mountain spring?
    And walk back down again
To feel your words and their sharp sting?
    And I'm getting fucking tired
The capillaries in my eyes are bursting
If our love died would that be the worst thing?
For somebody that I thought was my saviour
You sure make me do a whole lot of labour
The callous skin on my hands is cracking
If our love ends would that be a bad thing?
And the silence haunts our bed chamber
You make me do too much labour
    Apologies from my tongue
    And never yours
    Busy lapping from flowing cup
    And stabbing with your fork
    I know you're a smart man
    (I know you're a smart man)
    And weaponize the false incompetence
    It's dominance under a guise
    If we had a daughter
I'd watch and could not save her
    The emotional torture
From the head of your high table
She'd do what you taught her
She'd meet the same cruel fate
    So now I've gotta run
So I can undo this mistake
    At least I've gotta try
The capillaries in my eyes are bursting
If our love died would that be the worst thing?
For somebody that I thought was my saviour
You sure make me do a whole lot of labour
The callous skin on my hands is cracking
If our love ends would that be a bad thing?
And the silence haunts our bed chamber
You make me do too much labour
    All day, every day
    Therapist, mother, maid
Nymph then a virgin, nurse than a servant
Just an appendage, live to attend him
So that he never lifts a finger
    Twenty-four seven baby machine
So he can live out his picket fence dreams
It's not an act of love if you make her
You make me do too much labour
    All day, every day
    Therapist, mother, maid
Nymph then a virgin, nurse than a servant
Just an appendage, live to attend him
So that he never lifts a finger
    Twenty-four seven baby machine
So he can live out his picket fence dreams
It's not an act of love if you make her
You make me do too much labour
The capillaries in my eyes are bursting
If our love died would that be the worst thing?
For somebody that I thought was my saviour
You sure make me do a whole lot of labour
The callous skin on my hands is cracking
If our love ends would that be a bad thing?
And the silence haunts our bed chamber
You make me do too much labour

  4. This isn't a song, this is art. It makes me feel so many things all at once. It's also such a beautiful video visually, and how they look like they're in a medieval fantasy movie or something, and somehow the lyrics would have touched a woman a thousand years ago, just like they do now.

  5. Actual song aside the visuals are beautiful 😍
    I love this era's style
If I could I would live in a little cottage in the woods

  6. No communication in that relationship….she is telling him loudly no go get some help with your marriage problems…..feminists like to inject only one side…and that is still not good only way to make improvements is looking at things from many angles!

  7. BRAVO👏👏👏 FINALLY, an artist REFLECTING OUR TIMES 🎵🎶🎵‼️‼️ MORE PLEASE MORE…So sick of the Taylor Swifts and Katy Perrys of the world singing about "LOVE" and the American Dream for a WOMAN: Get married and have babies. Is there ANYTHING ELSE an American woman can do, PLEASE??
⚠️ Republicans took Roe…Now they want to LEGALIZE MARITAL RAPE in all 50 states (already legal in 14), they're seeking to implement the DEATH PENALTY for abortion in S. Carolina, a state where abortion is LEGAL, they're WEAKENING child labor laws everywhere (women are EXPECTED to be baby factories for the ECONOMY)🛑🐘 STOP VOTING REPUBLICAN♀️ AND GET UP AND GO VOTE💙 ⚖️

  8. I can’t stop listening to this. Omg it’s brilliant and encompasses everything women have been fighting against for generations.

  9. This song reminds me of my family, the men, father and grandfather, who literally didn't lift a finger sitting at the table and waiting for their meal to be served. Not to say of other errands.

  10. I'm a man, so I know I'm not the main target of this song, but I must say that this is one of the best music videos I've seen in this year. The direction, the acting, the cinematography, the song itself, everything is top notch. Kudos to Paris Paloma and everyone involved in it, I'm sure they have a bright future ahead

  11. I was that woman for nearly two decades. Then, I learned to create healthy boundaries, say "no" without guilt, and prioritize my well-being. My marriage is healthier and happier now for both me and my husband. Having found true partnership, we are now parents of a child who will see a better model of familial relationships and feel empowered to both contribute where they can and enforce boundaries when necessary.

  12. 21st century western woman's lamentations about having it bad Also food for thought how many high born ladies(like the one shown) where clandestinely fervent supporters of the feminist cause ?

  13. The whole comment section is filled with people unable to reconcile with reality. There is reason the birth/death rates of preindustrial societies where high, Atleast women never had to go to war and have their nuts blown out. Nice song though.
