NETANYAHU PUTTING POLITICS BEFORE DEAL, HOSTAGE’S DAUGHTER SAYS
Chaim Peri lived in Kibbutz Nir Oz, a community near the Gaza perimeter fence, targeted by Hamas on 7 October. The film lecturer and peace activist was abducted, leaving his wife, Osnat, in hiding. Sadly, his son Danny Darlington was also killed in the attack. Despite efforts to negotiate, Mr. Peri and other hostages were tragically killed during an operation in southern Gaza.
SAD NEWS AND FAMILY GRIEF
In June, the Peri family received the devastating news of Mr. Peri’s death. Later, the Israeli military confirmed the deaths of Mr. Peri, Mr. Metzger, Mr. Cooper, and Nadav Popplewell. Recently, the bodies of the hostages were recovered from underground tunnels in Khan Younis, bringing some closure to the grieving families.
INSUFFICIENT ACTION AND FRUSTRATION
Inbal Peri expressed frustration with the government for not prioritizing negotiations to bring back the hostages alive. She believed that her father and his friends should have been part of a hostage release deal, but political priorities seemed to take precedence. Ms. Peri emphasized the urgent need to find a resolution without risking more lives.

Ms. Peri urged the government to focus on reaching a deal and bringing back all the hostages promptly. Time was running out, and she stressed the importance of prioritizing the safe return of those who were still alive. The situation required immediate attention and decisive action.
NETANYAHU’S RESPONSE AND CONTINUING EFFORTS
Prime Minister Netanyahu’s office acknowledged the need to eliminate Hamas and achieve victory, while simultaneously working towards the return of the hostages. Mr. Netanyahu highlighted the objective of maximizing the number of hostages released in the initial stage of the deal. The government faced pressure to maintain strategic security assets amidst internal and external challenges.
